What we do know as facts are that heat and UV take a toll on any dash, vinyl or leather. Different materials expand/contract at different rates. So leather, metal, plastic, vinyl, all will move at different rates in the heat and cold.

Kind of sad that GM still hasn't figured out this issue as it continued on the C7 and C8 leather dashes.
Heat and moisture shrink leather. That much I’ve figured out. UV doesn’t help. I’ve used a sunshade, no products on the dash, no water directly sprayed on the window to clean, so far it’s been working.

All I know is the car was built sometime in November 2009 and I didn’t get it until 7/31/21.

I am also going to do the 5/16 vacuum hose method Warren did. It will prevent the front edge from separating.

If the factory glue is green and fuzzy looking, mine has a lot on the edges…the passenger edge where it meets the A-pillar (not the windshield) is cut a slight bit short but it lays flat. I see this substance there. I also caught my finger in the edge once running some wiring, and only a tiny fraction of the leather had any sort of play.

Mine had maybe 3-4 thin lines of glue going across the entire dash. It's definitely not green & fuzzy looking. I'd guess yours has been repaired previously.

If that’s the case they did a good job! No idea if they stapled it. Or maybe this green stuff (tiny amount in 2 spots) is something else.

Also, my defroster vent in the center of the dash has always been slightly distorted and bent in the center. I wonder if that’s an easy fix. It’s popped down everywhere, maybe I need to replace it.
