Who made the wheels? Reproductions can be heavy. You might have to look at the backside of the rim to ID. Some of the lightest batteries are lithium ion. You could shop around at Braille, anti gravity batteries, etc.
the wheels are GM original. There’s laser engraving on the inside. I’ll try to post a pic soon.
Interestingly; I was at C&S Corvettes yesterday and they told me these wheels are “very desirable“ because they’re a dealer add-on and do not come from the factory.
Does anyone want to buy/trade?

With the Shorai the only thing I do to play it safe is disconnect it completely if I know the car will be sitting for an extended period of time in between races.

While nothing can compare to the capacity of L batteries, here, the normal battery (are lead acid?) comes in with a great pricepoint, just as long as aware of RC.
You can add the Deka EXT18L AGM battery at 17.5 lbs and 340 CCA to that list. I used them exclusively for about 8 years and 50K+ miles. About $90 shipped IIRC a few years ago.

That's real weight savings, I must say, here you can drop weight, with the battery, within the budget great
The 15-spoke wheels were GM ... like the Gumby's they are a forged wheel, so its unlikely you are going to find anything significantly lighter that does not cost a fortune. (I hate that they were chrome, but ...). I am also in the camp that 3,200 pounds seems like a lot (its 400 pounds more than my C4), but the stiff chassis, safety equipment, etc. adds up quickly.
Most certainly those are heavy wheels, wise shopping.

Oh wow, didn't know they are factory, I was under the impression they were reproductions, which makes for super heavy.
Something along the lines of what I mentioned, goes long ways in keeping down the weight.

my 1994 weighed in at 3,361
The 1984 C4 weighed in at 3192.
Hardly 400 pound difference. Now with the HP and Torque difference, don't think that weight matters. The C6 weighs less than many sports cars, and same as some of European super cars.
You better look again. The C4 tipped the scale at 3240# and the base C6 at 3200#, at least according to GM.
And just for giggles I looked up my 70 C3 at 3285#.
Anything, close to the C5Z/C6Z, is accomplishing something. Weight has crept up a lot over years. I know a weight effects accelerating and handling, makes a difference.

I’m very intrigued with the battery you shared.
you mention track use- do you know of any reason it may not be good for daily driver use?

I used the same battery for a while. I didn't have any issues in a daily driver. A friend of mine also used the same battery and it popped one day. I sold mine after that.
