Adding a HUD, Class 2 Codes and IPC failures
But.. Every time I plug in the HUD to test, my car goes nuts. Radio turns off, car won't power off properly, codes across all modules, stuff just goes haywire. Using my scanner I traced it to the Class 2 data wire (the grey one, pin 5 on the black IPC connector) which gives me a reading of U1301 Class 2 Data Link High.
Disconnect this wire, and everything returns to normal.
Any ideas on what this may be? I've double and triple checked everything on the harness, that everything is fully plugged in, and to the right wire. It's that Class 2 wire that for some reason makes the car go haywire. I'd really like to add a HUD so any ideas?
Next...quadruple check your connections.
I made my own harness for my 2007 HUD install. Here is my write up. See if the connector pin outs and dash wire splices I describe match up to your directions. Would assume 05 and 07 have the same wire colors.
Mine worked fine as soon as i turned it on. 12 years now.

Here is the thread from PCMusicGuy that I mention in my thread. The link is not working and he has not been on awhile so PM probably wont work.

I ended up tracing every wire and the problem was the pre-made harness that I purchased from Cultrag Performance. Whoever wired it mistakenly bridged the ground and the illumination wire which was causing 12V to run through the system and cause it to go haywire. Luckily nothing was damaged. Also, the page up and down cables were reversed.
So I ended up rebuilding the harness and all was well. Of course this was an extremely frustrating exercise considering that I specifically spent $110 on a freaking cable harness to avoid having to do what I ended up having to do anyway. Cultrag didn't want to take any responsibility for it and just pushed me off on support, so I guess negative feedback it is and buyer beware.
