Any issues with using this model with a C6 GS?
Im curious as to how secure they hold the car up
when you working on it.
I will also be working on a 67 Camaro with it.
This will include pulling the transmission so lots of
pushing, pulling to get it in and out.
since the racks aren’t bolted down I just wondered
about a potential tip over situation
I don't bother with jack stands when mine is up on the Quick Jacks. The Quick Jacks are very sturdy and trustworthy, IMHO.
Mine are the BL5000SLX. These are rated to lift my wife's Mustang GT/CS, but not my Chevy pickup. They are not even working hard lifting my Corvette.
I have used them many times, for installing the Hooker Axle-back, Vararam CAI, a second set of wheels and tires, oil changes, DRM shocks, Z51 bars, auto trans fluid change, and a trans cooler install.
It is very convenient and much easier on my back to get the car up off the ground, so I'm not always leaning over to work on it.
Had mine 2 years now use it on the C6 as well as all the family cars. Once any car is off the floor I give it a good side to side push. I've never had an issue.
C6 is simple and easy to lift. I typically do not use jack stands with the quick jack, but I'm usually working on the perimeter. I've not worked on a first gen Camaro before. I can say my 3rd gen firebird does not work with the quickjack. The frame rails narrow at the front and wide at the back so normal ways doesn't work, and they also don't reach side to side. You would need something to spread the load somehow to get it lifted.
I have a C6 and a C3 that I use with the Quick Jack. On the C6 it works perfectly. Using the pucks I can get the car up in the air and it is perfectly balanced front to back. On the C3 it is a different story. When I position the quick jack as far forward as I can ( behind the front wheel) once it is in the air I feel that the car is too heavy in the front. I can move the car up and dow a bit by pushing on it. I don't know if it will fall forward, but I wasn't happy with it. If I try to put the quick jack further forward under the car so that the engine weight is more toward the center of the QJ I can't do it because the frame of the C3 sweeps up. I had to put some blocks between the frame and the QJ in the front, while leaving the frame on the QJ in the back. . It seem to work, but I wasn't happy so I ended up putting some jack stands under the front crossmember of the C3 frame. IF I plan on using this set up a lot I will build myself some adapter like the ones QJ sells for different configurations of car/pick ups. I don't know about your camaro frame, but I would anticipate the same issue as I have with the C3.

You see they have a LTX version now that lifts it up 6 more inches. I have been eyeing these jacks since I got the car, would be so much nicer for maintenance.
They extended the height on most models.
the 5000tl and 5000tlx both go to 24” now.
I agree I do much of my own maintenance
on not only the vette but others as well.
growing tired of floor jacks and Jack stands
if the garage where taller I’d put in a full sized
lift.
I went with the QJ 7000 so I can use it on my SUV's as well. Because of the spread length of the QJ 7000 lifting area, it just barely allows the blocks to be close enough (front to back) to align with the jack pucks. I use pucks with the QJ blocks to ensure clearance from the body work & side skirts. It's very stable but as others have said, you can add jack stands for extra security.
I had the QJ7000, and didn't care for it. It was so heavy to move around, and time consuming trying to position it perfectly. My QJ seem to struggle to
lift our Durangos. Both AWD and V8s. I grew tired straining to get the positioning just right as mentioned above by Chukman. And they never really felt secure without
jackstands with 2.5-3.0 tons above me. I sold mine and my soon to be garage with 10 foot ceiling will get a lift.
it worked okay on my C7 Grand Sport but with side skirts, even that was a pain to position. GS had to be driven on boards to get it high enough to get the QJ under it.
Just too much hassle and work for me.
Please note: . I am over 70, so I am sure my age played a part in my decision. To each their own. No lift may be perfect for EVERYONE.
Never had a problem using my 5000 SLX on my C6 or my ‘70 Firebird 400. Choosing the jack contact locations are more flexible on the Firebird rails than on the Vette. On the C6, all you have to do is line up the blocks up with the jacking points. Not a bad idea to install pucks which make it easier to find those points! Of course, the Vette is easier since it is at stock height.
Same as the above - never an issue and as long as the QJ once raised is lowered into either locking position, there as never been a stability issue at all.
QJ 7000TL - barely works on the Vette and as long as you have the QJ's running parallel to each other, its solid.
Thanks for this, I was going to ask if anyone used the 7000, I need that for my truck and SUV and wanted to make sure it would also work for my Vette. I know I will need to drive the Vette up onto boards as I am really low.
FWIW, on my quickjack (5000), my aluminum pucks will not fit even with the smaller of the QJ rubber blocks. My car is at factory height as well.
I have the plastic removable pucks which I believe take up a little less space, but you should be able to at least use the shorter blocks. Also, if you are not the original owner, is it possible that a previous owner lowered your car? If you go to a show, try to park next to another C6 and compare the heights between the cars. I have seen videos on YouTube with other C6 owners using QJ with no problems.

I am the original owner and always kept the ride height from factory. The shorter blocks with aluminum pucks would not fit. If my pucks were 1/4" shorter, then it would fit. No big deal. It is easy enough to position the blocks where I don't need to use the pucks.
