Hey everyone, I just replaced the battery in my 2005 Vette, everything works except for the CD player. I get this message "CD Intializing" The radio works and all the presets are good too. Any clues on how to reset this message? Thanks!
It seems that quite a few years ago, initializing was programming CDs I’d recorded so they could play on any CD player. I’m not sure what this statement on your player means. My thoughts are is it may be resetting so that in can read information on the CDs you want to play, such as location and number of tracks. I would probably let it run like this if it needs to kind of reboot internally. Also, try putting a CD in (not your favorite one though) and see what happens. Hopefully, any initializing procedures will take a reasonably short time and you’ll be good. I would think this should be two minutes or less.
I know there are lots of folks on here with vastly more knowledge than me and hopefully they can give you better information. This is what I would try. Best of luck!
I suggest you disconnect your battery again for a few minutes then hooking it back up. Could be that is has a little glitch, and doing this might reset everything.
Have you put a cd in? I wouldn’t put in my favorite, but the “initializing” message may be the player trying to read a discs set up and stays there because it’s not reading a nonexistent disc. If you do this, use a commercially purchased cd (not one you’ve recorded yourself) that you know will play on another player. I’m just sharing ideas that may save some money.
I’ve worked with audio equipment for years and the most frustrating issues to track down are sometimes the simplest - mic cable not fully plugged in, not in the correct input, a flipped switch … it can make you crazy. And then it’s just aggravating when it’s something simple.
Thanks, I tried that but it didn't reset. I might need some professional help.

Well sorry to hear that didn't work for you, my only other suggestions are, you could pull it and send it in to be repaired, or replace it with a used one which you can find in the C6 "Parts For Sale/Want To Buy" section of this forum where they come up quite often for sale, which would probably be the cheapest route to go. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...head-unit.html Or you could just give up on it and buy a good aftermarket system and replace it all together, which many of us have done, and would give you a much more up to date system, with much more functionality. It just depends on how much you want to spend, and the features you want.
Just wanted to post an update on this issue. After 4 battery disconnects and reconnects the issue has been resolved. It works perfectly now. Thanks for all your responses.

Thanks for getting back with us with the outcome, we appreciate that. Interesting it took four battery disconnects to fix it, never heard of that before, but I'm glad you got it working again.
