As my 12 GS gets older , i'm looking for the forum for fair and honest advise. Today's concern is my 7 year GMPP will expire the end of Sept. In these 7 years the car has traveled about 14k miles and has been flawless.
I'm considering getting a new warrantee extension. Most dealers I've talked to offer something other than the GMPP . They say "this is better" "this is less" "this covers more" . Not sure who or what to believe. What do you guys think or recommend ?
Have you had any issues with your GS? Personally, I would start a car maintenance & repair fund. Start with whatever amount you were planning to pay for an extended warranty, and then drop a little in there each month. If you search, most issues are pretty well-known, and are fairly inexpensive to fix. This way, you're paying yourself and earning interest on that money instead of somebody else.
It's been completely trouble free. That's why I'm asking opinions. You know the dealers work their scare tactics and I get pretty turned off by that stuff.

^^^This is the correct answer.
Warranties are always a bad bet as you are really doing nothing but betting if the car breaks or not, the problem is the house, always takes a huge cut. It's obvious how profitable it is for those offering warranties by the massive amount of telemarketers offering them.
And just like Vegas someone will jump in and tell you about their big win (the time the warranty paid off), but you'll seldom hear anything from the hundreds who never used them, or had repairs that were less then what they paid in.
I’ve had my 2012 for over 4 years and it now has 51k miles. Only repair so far has been rear axle nuts $10) and a month ago replacing the original Delco. Don’t buy a warranty. You have a good one.

In certain instances I'm in favor of extended warranties - like on my daughter's '20 Subaru because she's away at college and I want her to have peace of mind & no out-of-pocket expenses for the next 7 years. Or my wife's Grand Cherokee because she puts 30k mi/year on it & the factory warranty runs out in just over a year.
But on other vehicles that are relatively problem-free and/or easily repairable, my suggestion holds true. Also, outside of warranty, I prefer using performance shops that specialize in Corvettes vs the dealer. I've seen some good reviews for a Corvette shop in Downers Grove that looks to be close to you.
This is my experience. I had a GMPP extended warranty on both my C5 & my C6....around $3,000 for each. Never had a claim with the C5 and one claim that covered about $100 on my C6. In hind sight, that money could have sit in a saving account dedicated to car repairs and I'd have $5900 left today plus interest.
Your GMPP window closes at 10 years from the in service date of the car. If that date is before today, Dennis won’t write you a policy. As others have said, put the monthly premium amount to a repair fund. Self insure is the way to go.

Much appreciated

I would pass on the extended warranty. Personally I think they are a waste of money.
The C6 is pretty damn reliable. Keep her fluids fresh and you will be just fine.
It's a die roll really. I purchased an extended service plan with my C6 two years ago and it has paid off for me since my fuel tank needed to be replaced. I'm ahead of the game now.
However, I've purchased extended service plans in the past and it was money pissed down the drain.
