Default Plug Wires

Hello. I would appreciate your recommendations on a new set of spark plug wires for my 2005 C6 base with 58,000 miles. I believe the one in there now are original. No problems with the current set up, but it is certainly time to change. The name of the wires and where I can get them would be appreciated. Thanks 😊

Go to rockauto.com and get the OEM wires. EZ, and no concerns.

GPI/Gwatney makes a nice set. I've been running them for a few weeks now and they look great and no issues so far.

^^^^^ I like the description on those, 'Excellent Noise Suppression'. I believe that's very important

Personally I ran MSD Superconductor wires with my GTO LS2, for number of years. I hear stories that the C6 electrical system is not the same, however I had good luck

I used the Denso's....seem to be okay with a S/C....no issues whatsoever after 5K miles.

OEM wires are very good quality, no need to go aftermarket with wires

I echo the recommendation of many others…OEM is the best way to go and I’ve done both OEM and some aftermarket. The aftermarket is just not up to the same quality as OEM.

I’ve run OEM wires on some big builds that I wouldn’t trust to any aftermarket choices out there.

Gee, I'm at 114,000 on the original wires...maybe I should be thinking of changing those out. I did change the spaark plugs at 60K
Yes, I will do both over the 2022-23 winter hibernation period and be freshened up in the 2023 running season.

At 58,000 miles what makes you think you need new wires?

If you insist on replacing them, go with GM OEM wires.

I’m thinking of swapping out mine too on my 2009 ZO6. Not due to mileage but because my cream puff is 13 years old.

Believe it or not, I had to replace my spark plugs and wires at less than 8K miles. My tuner discovered this during his test on a dyno and while attempting to tune the LS3 and showed me the AC Delco plugs. The plugs looked like they had 60k on them. I know this was for real since he tunes mostly Fords. Also the original owner primarily drove the GS for three miles commutes from his home to his shop from home plus the rocky cold starts when firing up a cold LS3. I went for stock plugs and wires and the car has started and run better since.

I changed my wires at the same time I changed the plugs at 100k. Went OEM plugs and wires, got 167k now with no problems. Unless you have a misfire I wouldn't change anything until you get nearer 100k.
