Default Tire Installers

well time to bite the bullet on new shoes. Thinking of getting the Michelin AS 4. But want to make sure to install at a place that deals with Vettes. Posted on local FB group and most said to find a Discount Tire. There is one up the road and can get the tires there. Probably should get new TPMS sensors while doing it. Also, should I make sure I have the four pucks for them?

Discount Tire is usually good but like any chain, there are probably some locations that are better than others. For what it's worth, I'd choose them if they were closer to me but they aren't.

For TPMS, might as well replace them if they've never been done on your car. You can get all 4 from RockAuto for less than $100. I recently had these put in without any issues (Shrader 29047).

You don't need jacking pucks.

I agree that DT is most likely the best place to take your car for tires, as this is my primary tire service center. I disagree concerning the need for jacking pucks. I am VERY **** about anyone working on my car when it comes to placing it on a lift or jack. I see you have a GS, as do I. My GS is low and once driven up on their lift, there is not enough room to place cushioning between the lift and the side skirt cutouts. This means that the rubber cushioned lift will contact the fiberglass side skirts and risk placing enough weight on them to possibly crack them. Therefore, I made them use a bay without the lift for low riding vehicles. I provided the pucks to be used on their jack for protection of the side skirts. They may or may not have their own pucks, so I am prepared and always have a discussion with the service tech that works on the car.

The old adage "Better Safe Than Sorry" is in play here as those side skirts are not easy to repair once cracked or broken.

Just my 2 cents.

Always have a set of pucks. Keep mine in cubby in back. Never had a bad interaction with Discount tire. They even have road force balancing. I got TPMS from Amazon a while ago. $80 for all 4.

Discount tire is the only place I goto.

back when I had my C5 I did have an issue with DT accidentally installing silver balancing weights despite my asking for black ones to help them blend with my black wheels, but they fixed it without further issue when I asked about it.

They always have pucks, and at least one guy who is their dedicated Vette guy. He pretty much knows me when I go there now.

Always a good idea to bring 4 pucks and make sure that the installer uses them properly.

Discount Tire here in our area is top shelf. I have had them mount new tires (with no problems at all) on my '65 with knockoffs, on my 2003 Marauder and on the Rocket wheels I put on my '34 Ford High Boy (tires purchased through Diamond Back but they were happy to mount and balance them for a reasonable fee). Check the reviews for the locations in your area.

Used Discount Tire for years, and they recently bought Tire Rack this spring, so that show you they are in it for the long haul.

Probably because tire rack was such a huge threat to them. I can't tell you how many times I bought my tires on tirerack, had them shipped to the discount tire, vs just buying the tire there in store. The salesmen were such a nag!
