No you can just replace the lens; some better quality than others. Some come with better gaskets than OEM (a bit thicker).
Although I haven’t done it, I’ve read it’s quite the process to get the headlight assembly out of the car. Then you’ll need to heat up the adhesive to pull the lens off the assembly.
