Fill the gas tank with NON ETHANOL gas. Filling it keeps condensation from developing.
regular ethanol braeks down in a short time. Think of your lawnmower after sitting for a month or two.

Hopefully you have an indoor storage space...
Change engine oil & filter
Hook up battery tender/maintainer (not a battery charger)
As another member noted, place several mouse traps (the sticky type) on the driver & passenger floors & in the trunk/hatch area (those little critters love to chew wiring).
Full car cover
Jack car & sit on jack stands to prevent tire flat spotting.

Dryer sheets will work to keep rodents out too. STABIL in the tank and battery tender.

The idea of filling it up is not the exact truth.

I suggest you read that post. There are lots of kwowledge there. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...up-or-not.html

This "less room in the tank for air" stuff is wrong.....the C6 has a sealed fuel system & as long as the gas cap is in working order, no air gets into the tank other than what is already in there...use of a stabilizer is in my opinion a good idea

When the engine is running &
fuel is being pumped out of the tanks, the evap sytem vent control valve opens & closes to prevent a vacuum situation

I used to fill it up for the last 10 years, but changed last year.

Hope it helps.

Max out.

Don’t bother with jack stands. Modern radials don’t flat-spot. I’ve got a very old concrete floor, and the cement they used back then had a lot of lime in it, so I’ve got 4 carpet squares which end up under the tires just in case the alkalinity degrades the rubber.

^^^Fakenews^^^

Even a sealed fuel system has air in the system, what do you think occupies the space not filled with fuel?

Fill your tank with fuel as corrosion in the tank can't take place when submerged. This is particularly important on a C6 as you want to keep the sending unit submerged as they have a history of corroding and failing.

I store several of my specialty cars for six months or more, including my C3, C6 and C7. As a minimum I add Stabil to the tank and fill the tank with fuel. Place the battery on a battery tender. Your mileage may vary.

one more...DO NOT have someone come out and start it occasionally, unless it is going to be driven long enough to reach regular temps for all fluids. Better to leave it as is, where is, for the duration. More thumbs up on the Start-Bil, pumped through the system for a few miles before shutdown.

High grade fuel, battery tender. It is just a car. 9 years in and this has worked for me!

I've done for years with my Mercedes SL here in New England winters, Stabil, and Ctek Polar Tender hooked direct to battery. I run the car for a bit to have stabil go through the lines, do this for my Garden tractor as well. I also run stabil through my snow blower in spring. Good stuff I think. IMHO

Used to live in Michigan. I stored cars for the 6 month winter for over 30 years. Carpet under tires. I used to take battery out and put it on a tender but last 10 years just left battery in car hooked to tender. Never used Stabil or anything like it. Never had a problem, even in mower, blower, edger, or snow blower.
plug it in, cover it up, and leave it alone until you are ready to drive it.

Back when I had my BOM 2006 GTO I was hellbent on keeping it pristine and low miles so that one day hopefully it would gain in value so I could buy a Corvette, lol. Took years, but it worked. And I enjoyed the car while I had it as well. Only drove it on nice days, with no rain or snow, and stored it in the garage over the winters.

Before storing it I always:
  • Give it a fresh oil change
  • Fresh coat of
Collinite 885 Marine Wax Collinite 885 Marine Wax
  • Rub seats and interior with new leather conditioner.
  • Used up the remaining gas in the tank and then top it off with new gas mixed with the correct amount of Stabil Blue
  • Disconnect the battery from the car and put it on a battery tender. Leave hood up and car unlocked.
  • Lift onto jack stands and remove the wheels (I spray the jack stands with silicone lube to make it harder for mice to climb the stands.)
  • Small dehumidifier inside the car, large one outside the car. (Helps prevent musty smells from being stored over the winter.)
  • Cedar ***** and peppermint oil in the trunk
  • Electric rodent traps around the garage
  • Rodent poison traps around the outside (I recommend "
Just One Bite II Just One Bite II
    ")
  • Stuff exhaust tips with Nerf *****
  • Check on the car now and then throughout the winter to make sure there's no pest activity. ** THIS IS A MUST. **
  • Call up the insurance company and tell them it's in storage to save some money over the winter if they allow it. My car was always covered as long as it was in the garage.
Bought the GTO with 4016 miles in 2007. Sold it in 2020 for $20,000 with 28,000 miles. This was overkill, but gave me peace of mind will it was stored over the winter.
