Default Need Information

Hello to all, I am in the market for another Vette. I had a 04 Coupe and am now looking at the C6. I was told that I should go for a 08 or newer, due to those years have a better and stronger drive train from the 05-07 drive train. I would like some information on this. What are your experiences? Is the 05-07 Z06 better than the non Z06 cars for those years? Did they make the drive train better, and or fix the weak points? Any information on this would be appreciated. I am also wondering what kind of milage would be considered great for the year? I'm seeing a lot of 08 or newer with 70-80K +, so I'm wondering if getting that kind of milage Im leary on being able to resale. I know several questions and concerns. I appreciate any input. Thanks

05 MN6 had a weaker diff than the other year models. Still a great car depending on your usage. If you are going for a Z06, any will be good and similar in specs sans mods. Mileage depends on the buyer. Some like low mileage vehicles. The LS motor is pretty stout and can take a lot. The Z06 had valve train issues so you want to be on the lookout for those.

An 08 is 14 years old. If it has 80K miles on it, that's just 5714 miles a year.

So here's a quick little breakdown that should help a little
2005: LS2 6.0l, 4l60e trans (auto), t56 trans (manual), Weaker diff, carry over issues from C5 (i.e. Column Lock, ect)
2006-2007: still LS2 but 6l80e (mostly bullet proof stock auto), still t56 manual, better diff, other improvements
2008-2013: LS3 6.2 (30 more horsepower out of the gate, responds better to mods, better overall torque curve, Same 6L80e but now the auto is the new TR6060 Tremec (debatable which truely is better because both manual trans are well proven to work).
2010-2013 Manual Grand Sport: Dry sump handbuilt LS3 with forged crank, and added oil coolers. (the rest is the same as the above).

Personally if you can afford it the LS3 will be the better option, however the LS2 is still a great motor. The only one I would tell you to avoid is an 05 as they do have first model year hiccups.

Theres other smaller differences throughout the years, 08 up cars get the updated interior, in 12 they get nicer seats and steering wheels.

Either way I'm sure you'll be happy. Cant go wrong with a C6

My guess is you wont be happy until you have a 2010-2013 Grand Sport with a M6 - so just start there.

Sounds like a 06-07 with an automatic wou be the way to go at those years. I appreciate the response, good information.

Budget is not that big. Unless it has a lot of miles on it. I'm not to keen.... would love to stay around the 40-50 K or better.

I'm leaning towards 08 or newer, just because of what I'm hearing that the drive train is a lot better. It may have to be one with a bit higher mileage on it, but if the paperwork follows and the person didn't race or abuse...then I think it will be a good buy....we shall see what comes up. Thanks for the response.
