Default P2068 cel

it seems i can't get more the week with a CEL lit. after having just spent $1,300.00 for a new cat install ( this cleared a long standing CEL ), after just having filled the tank up this morning, on came the CEL again ( P2068 ).
i'm assuming it is related to my current bout of having the gas gauge not also working. upon any fill up's, the gauge will read empty for about 10 minutes then, go to about 1/2 - 5/8 full. then back to empty, then after about 5 - 10 minutes,
it'll read full till the next fill up ( rinse & repeat ). today was the first time i had a code related to this issue ( or at least i'm assuming it is related ).
as i've noted before, i do love driving this car but, it seems to have reached that point in its life, where it's becoming a 'whack a mole' vehicle. i love going on long drives but, now i'm becoming less and less confident that nothing will go wrong.
any thoughts on the P2068 code?

Right side gas tank fuel level sensor. Search "Service Fuel System" on here for many others with the same problem.

Here is a recent thread. See my post #8 with a link to my thread on P2068.

FYI....in the 15+ years ownership of my C6, I have spent less than $1300 in total repairs on it.....so keep the faith!

thanks for the info. regarding the faith, i am a chevy loyalist, so i know a thing or two about the faith.
based on your repair costs. it would seem that i fall into the other end of the cost ownership. not even counting the usual maintenance items, i'm easily 10x - 12X of your costs. Their is a new crate engine in their too ( $7.5k ) but, also quite a few repairs along the way.
my first choice was an early C3 ( '69 - '72 ) but felt that i'd be spending a few $$$ and time keeping it on the road. silly me. i'm glad i went with the C6 but, am also starting to feel the end of the line coming soon. i'll retiring soon ( next year or so ) and, would rather be spending more time driving than repairing my ride.

I'm still on the fence about formally addressing (i.e. repairing) the fuel level sensor issue (CEL P2068). currently, i can live with it as, all it does is, upon fill out, it will read empty for about 10-15 min. (or miles).
then it will usually jump to either 5/8 full or totally full. for only about 30 seconds. it then repeats this cycle,1 or 2 more times. then it goes to full and reads 'normally' the remainder of the tank.
if this process takes too long, that is when I get the P2068 CEL. once the gauge reads full and, I can get 3 on/off engine cycles, the CEL goes off.
for now, I need to give my wallet a rest. the current quote is $1,200.00 for this repair.
I'm assuming that the sensor involved is the passenger side. Also assuming that each tank has its own level sensor. and if that's correct, it would have a different CEL.
or, is their only one sensor? if there are two sensors, how do I make sure which sensor is bad?

Have you tried running a couple of tanks with Techron or some other fuel system cleaner? That might be all it needs.

I tried several rounds of Techron. no difference. But, because of the P2068 CEL, I do not believe it to be the sulfur coating issue. that, along with the cycle that I'm currently experiencing (see above for details).
I'm pretty sure that it is the level sensor itself. and also, as noted above, if it's just me, I'm going to wait for a clear space in the discretionary funds to open up first. then I'll pony up the $$$.
until then, I can just wait the 10 - 15 minutes or so, to clear itself.
tomorrow I get to have my passenger side driving (fog) re-installed (totally broken from its mount, after hitting a cardboard box on the freeway). then Monday, hopefully get my headlight lenses addressed.
then, I want to address some discoloration marks that, have appeared on the hood. they have the appearance like, something under the hood (insulation) may be allowing some excessive heat through.
I have one each running on each side next to the fender, starting from the near the windshield, going about 1-1/2'. then there is 1' box shaped area near the middle of the hood.
I've tried some wax on it, no difference. It'll try to get some pictures, which will do a better job of explaining than I can.
here is one picture (not from my car), that shows kind of what i have going on. looking at the 'line' running crosswise on the middle of the hood. the ones I have running along the hood, parallel to fenders. have the same appearance.
they are not random but, look to follow some under hood structure.

again, this not my car but, does have the same type issue (please focus on the damaged area, not the bird poop). i have this same type of damage on both sides of the hood.)
