Default C6 Displacement

It seems most new cars are getting a 6.0L engine, so chances are the corvette will too so it can share and keep the price down. However the gto has a 5.7L LS1, if the corvette is going to have something other than an LS1, wont the gto be the only car with an LS1? that wouldnt be very economical, so will the c6 be an LS1 or will the gto get upgraded?or what?

Good point ~ and only time will tell.
It all depends on how 'quickly' GM wishes to upgrade / introduce new vehicles....
Maybe the 6.0L isn't due out 'till 2005 or 2006 in which they can continue to use the 5.7L since their factories are already setup that way. :lurk:

Ahem...The GTO is an existing platform made by Holden. Since the car has been available for over a year (in Australia), why would they need to change the engine?

The C6 on the other hand is a totally new platform. Chevy can do what they want with it.

But if you must insinuate that the Monaro, woops GTO needs a new engine, there is a limited version being produced by Holden Special Vehicles that has the C5-R (427) motor.

The term LS1 covers the truck line also. There are 4.8, 5.3, 5.7 and 6.0 versions of it. The 5.7 in the Vette is aluminum and the 5.3 headed for the entended Trailblazer (and the Rainer) will be aluminum. GM announced last summer that the Saginaw engine foundry will be upgraded in 2005 or 6 to make aluminum engines. The point here is that the auto applications are aluminum now and the truck ones will be down the road. But iron or aluminum they are LS1's.

Do the Australians make their own LS1 engines or are they imported from Canada?

The engines do come from Canada. Of course, the higher performance versions (HSV's 402HP LS1s) have special Callaway-designed heads.

Yeah but a 366 cu. in. doesn't have the right "harmonic" :jester

The balance is all outta whack ~ it's just plain un-natural. 327 & 427 have 'perfect' harmonics......they're proportionate.

Nah-h-h-hh......it should be some other number ~ maybe 367 or 372 .....you have to have 2 'odd' digits & one even digit......2 evens spells out bad luck. :jester

How about "365". That's the computed CID of the current 6.0L truck engine.

Sure sounds better than "346" - the CID of the current LS1/6.

Or just say "six liter" and avoid the unnecessary syllables.
