2005 Corvette C6
I have a 2005 C6 Manual. There is a whining noise, kind of a deep tone whine, You can really hear it when you let it decelerate from about 2500 rpm and it follows the RPMs, going from loud to soft when I finally depress the clutch to go into the Second whine stops. It's not as noticeable during acceleration, but you can softly hear it when decelerating. It only does this in First gear; no others. Is this a sign my trannys going out?

Check the torque on your rear axle nuts, they are famous for working loose. I had an '05 and I had a similar symptom as you but mine wasn't restricted to just one gear. You can search on here or google and you will find a lot of info on the axle nuts and proper fix, which is easy. You do not have to remove the wheel to check the nut, just the center cap of the rim.
