I have a 2012 GS, Manual, with 9000 miles on the clock. Today I arrived at work and as I put the car in reverse and started to back up, the car began running very rough and I had the following warning displayed. + the check engine light..
Service traction system Service handling system
Hmmmm, that is strange. Since it is running rough, thinking possibly fouled spark plug, loose plug wire.
So after reading a few posts, figured the timing of it (backing up seemed to trigger it) was a bad wheel sensor, most probably. So I get home and decide to check the engine bay and low and behold, one of the spark plug wires is completely off. Hooked it back up, start car....all is well.
I and others have had the same thing happen. Of all the cars I have ever owned I never had a spark plug wire just fall off, until I did on my Grand Sport.
I had a similar issue last month. It would run fine under normal conditions but when I pushed it hard I got the same message on the DIC, and it did throw a code for a misfire. Plug wires were all connected but it turned out that there was cracked insulation on plug wire for #4 cylinder. Replaced all plug wires with MSDs and problem solved. Apparently the voltage spikes from a faulty plug firing confuse the PCM and it sends that Service Traction Control or Active Handling error message.
