Hello everyone! I just bought my 1st Vette, 2012 LS3 manual. It has a nasty knocking coming from the engine. It won’t let me post the video here… can I send the video to anyone here and get your opinion on what it might be? I think I know but I’m far from an expert and would like someone else’s opinion
If you bought it can i assume you test drove it .....if so and it was ok then i would check the spark plug wires at both ends . If that isnt it the it might be a octane problem or a host of othe r things but thats a place to start. Having a obII meter would help. If not theres places like AutoZone that can give you a reading

Is the knocking coming from the lower part of the motor, or up high? Is it a deep tone knock, or more high pitched?
sounds like it’s coming from the lower part. I’ve checked all the valve springs and those aren’t the problem
Sounds like wrist pin or rod knocking. Start the engine and systematically disconnecting each spark plugs wire starting with cylinder #1. If the the knocking doesn't change reconnect the wire and move to cylinder #2. Do this until either the knocking stops or you've gone through all eight wires. If the knocking does stop that's your problem cylinder.

thank you so much. Since it’s not throwing any codes I didn’t even know where to start. I’ll give that a try tomorrow and see if I can’t narrow it down.
