Looking to tint the rear hatch window and was told by one installer he will not install tint there due to the difficulty and problems of the curved window. Has anyone experienced issues with their rear window tint?
Find another window tinter. Plenty of people on here have perfect tint. Some tinter just don't want to deal with it, warranty their workmanship, or the little black dots, or just plain lazy.

Mine was tinted and has been since I purchased it from the first owner back in 12. Still looks great today. Don’t know the shops name but they can be installed correctly. Mine is proof!
I have gotten many quotes to do mine. They all say the back window is tough, however all say it is no problem for them. Maybe find a more reputable shop
An experienced tint shop will be able to tint the curved rear window. They will charge a bit more, but you usually get what you pay for. Be sure to thoroughly inspect the completed job for any bubbles or problems before leaving the shop!
Had my back re-tinted due to previous owner not having it very dark. Tint shop i go to was fine on tinting it, but was concerned for the dot matrix around the top. I found in a previous post that someone suggested applying black vinyl in those areas. Tint guy aggreged with that suggestion and it came out just fine.
Can be done - just keep looking around like other stated until you find someone that can do the job. Gotta respect the shops that tell you right off the bat their guys aren't good enough to do that anyway
I just got mine tinted this past weekend. Mobile-Tint shop came to my house and did it in my garage. I talked to the guy while he was doing it...he told me beforehand it was going to be a PITA, but he took his time, shaped it with a heat gun and nailed it on the first attempt. Looks perfect. Like the others have stated...I'd call some other shops. There's no question that it's tricky...but a seasoned Tint-guy/gal can do it.
Large curved hatch windows seem to be a big challenge. A guy tinted my 06 Eclipse years ago. He did a great job - used a heat gun and patience. Had that car a dozen or so years after and still looked great.
Had my 2005 done in which it took 3-4 times and finally mastered. The dot matrix I was unaware of though since the Vette only gets driven about 80 miles a month, it looks fine. I believe 20% tint was install all around.
So what is the issue with the dot matrix some have posted about?
The dot matrix is a bunch of dots along the top of the rear window. The problem is the dots are not smooth and create a rough surface to apply the tint over. Rub your hand along the top of the rear window and the problem becomes easy to understand.
had my rear window tinted last year and it is fine. i had them cut out the area of the dots because it won't stick there well or look good over those dots.
i got the 3M ceramic window tint
