Default Using Tech2 on column lock

After eight years with a column lock bypass my DIC is showing service column lock. From info here on the Forumn I decided to go to my Chevy dealer to get them to " flash the BCM".They would not do it wiThout the tsb being done The bypass stops the lock from activating but the message is a pain in the butt. It goes away with the reset button but comes right back. My son has a friend with a Tech 2 but I'm sure he's never done a flash for this problem. Can anyone explain the procedure to do this or is it too complicated? If I
have to I will buy a new bypass but would prefer the flash. Thanks for any help.

Just went through the same thing, suddenly getting "service column lock" on DIC. Would disconnect the battery, reconnect it and it would go away for a while, then show up again. Finally took the car to a local independent shop who had a Tech2 and he flashed the BCM and took out the software. Charged me $100. Some dealers won't do it without removing the lock which involves removing the steering wheel and going into the column, then they also flash it and charge you $500!! I don't know the procedure, unfortunately, but do know the Tech2 will do the job. Try a PM to Dano523, bet he can tell you what you need to do.
