Good morning all!
A few more interesting bits with my "new" 05 C6...
I'm not even sure what the question is that I have but wanted to mention some weird things I recently found with my car. So I was having no-start issues, first was the car turning over, no ignition. Simple relay replacement for the fuel pump solved that. Next, after a few days, I had full gauge sweep on ignition and then no crank after running the car then leaving it for ~2-3 hours. It was acting like the battery was dead (but the battery is new, load tested and good). If the car was fully cold (overnight) it would fire right up. So I started digging around and thought that it might be the clutch switch. Down by the switch a PO at some point spliced one of the wires together with electrical tape. As it's tough to reach down there I temporarily decided to twist the wires together and bypass the switch (telling the computer the clutch is always engaged). From this I had two weird symptoms: First, when I turned off the ignition the car would shut off but the engine would keep running for like 20 seconds before turning off. Really weird. Second, my aftermarket (not installed by me) head unit wouldn't power down as it did previously. It would stay on endlessly. So as a test I opened the clutch sensor circuit (telling the computer the clutch is always out) expecting my car not to start. Good thing I had it in neutral, because it fired right up...
So whats up with that? How would my clutch safety switch allow my car to start with the circuit open? (and side questions: why would having it continuously closed keep the engine running and not allow my head unit to turn off?)
I'm replacing the switch and fixing the wiring, just curious! Battery voltage is good, disconnected battery many times seeing if that resolved anything, all stayed the same.
Hope yall are having a nice weekend!

As you figured out, car needs lower clutch switch to help is shut the car down.
As for car starting with the clutch pedal switch not pressed inward, its a setting that can be change during a tune, so the BCM is not looking for it during start up.
