Default Replace mufflers

Have an 07 base model with automatic trans. Looking for recommendations on replacing just the mufflers with better sound and no drone. Know this has been discussed many times but I was unable to find previous threads. Not wanting loud mufflers, but would like to hear the engine idle at least. Thanks.

My '09 LS3 California car has Magnaflow instead of the stock mufflers. I hear no drone, but that's with the catalytic converters in place. Sorry for no sound clip to provide.

which magnaflows do you have? did you just cut out the stock muffler and weld in these?

Which Magnaflows? That I do not know. They were already on the car when I bought it. I can tell they are welded on not clamped, and in the original mounted area as the OEMs. You may want to find out the inlet diameter for the stock mufflers then buy the Magnaflows online. Then find a fair & reputable muffler shop to weld them on without over charging you.

I have factory NPP mufflers with headers and offroad x-pipe. It truly is the best of both worlds.

With a mild to wild switch you can hear the rumble at idle when the valves are open. With my setup there is some drone at highway speeds with the valves open. However, one flip of the switch to close the valves and it's quiet again. Even with headers and x-pipe my car sounds almost factory quiet with the valves closed.

Corsa sports /thread.

People saying NPP, not gonna work unless you wanna deal with all the vacuum lines and electronics that come with that. Corsas are just a drop in plug and play.

I agree! I should clarify, I'm simply making a case for dual mode exhausts of all kinds. Stock NPP, Corsa, electric cutouts, etc. If my car did not come factory with NPP I would most likely go with electric cutouts or Corsa dual mode.

Yeah if you got hookups for NPP, npp all day. sounds amazing. Id take that over corsa I think. But just for bolt up, cant go wrong with corsas.

I put Borla Touring axle back mufflers on mine, they bolt up to your existing x-pipe. They are perfect for me, Noticeable rumble at idle, and nice muscle car sound when rolling on, but they are not loud when you are on it hard. Zero drone, and at highway speed you can't Hear them unless you get on it. A link to a sound clip, not my car..

NPP are a good option. Anything will be better than the base mufflers. Could really use any aftermarket muffler that will fit in the space provided. NXT step performance sounded amazing on my c5, they make them for the C6 but haven’t heard them in person. No drone even when I went with longtubes and no cats.
