Default Bolt for battery tray

Before I get the standard “go search the threads,” I swear I have and cannot find this answer.

I had to change my battery a few days ago, and the bolt that secured the rubber cleat disappeared into the unknown. Literally is nowhere to be found. I need to know the exact size/threading of the bolt to go get a new one. I have the cleat and washer…just need the bolt dimensions that will secure it again. I feel like the head was 13mm. I could be wrong. I was in a dark parking garage when I took it off and, when trying to resecure it, it fell and rolled off into a spot that was unrecoverable.

Any help would be appreciated. Even sites online will sell me a kit, but not tell the size/dimensions of the bolt. I just want to go to Home Depot or Advanced or somewhere and buy the right bolt. Thanks

I bought an exact replacement at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Just take an image of the bolt that indyblue67 provided. I think you might find your missing bolt down (way down) to the left.

I don't feel so bad now.......the EXACT same thing happened to me. Never found the bolt, even after looking while the car is on a lift. Got 2 bolts at O'Reilly's......!!

Does the bolt come with a retainer that keeps it attached to the hold down clamp?

Thanks all. Got the correct bolt. Battery is once again secure, and I put some new tires on as well. Day was nice enough that I popped the roof off and got to wind her out for a bit!

I was wondering the same. The clip with the nut on the bottom of my tray is missing. Therfore i cannot screw the bolt into anything. Any advice besides buying a whole new hold down tray??

That's just a threaded clip on insert. If you want to use the original bolt, get the same size as your bolt. If not then get what you can and swap out the bolt. Check a good hardware store, farm supply or fastener store or you could check online.

Hmm not sure if i follow you. I need the one that the yellow line is pointing to. That one connects to the small hold down clip .

It's different from the one on top (flat insert) and bolts the hold down tray to the car chassis.

Do you have any Google links to help connect me with?

Thought you were talking about the one on the top. You could 'make' your own similar to the bottom one but probably need a threaded bolt. Get one like the top, flatten the clip and shape it to the contour then drill it for a rivet to hold it in place. Just a thought. Good luck.
