I'm wondering if the placement of my Proclip iPhone bracket is affecting my Fob because I've been getting some "Fob not found" messages, I'll conduct some experiments and report the results in this thread. I'd also appreciate comments from anyone who has experienced this issue. I have changed batteries in the Fobs and the car, a 2008 C6, has a new Optima Red top that tests perfect. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
I have that same mount with an iPhone 12 Pro. No issues with "Fob Not Found" with my 2011 other than when the battery in the fob died. That said, when I had my 2008 Z06 I had all kinds of problems with the fobs. I always attributed it to riding in my pocket next to or under my wallet and having the buttons constantly getting pressed when I'd sit/stand/move around, and the fob would latch up. I'd have to open it, remove the battery, and put it back together on occasion to get it to work again. Those 2008 fobs ate batteries like crazy.
My iPhone 13 was in the same pocket with my fob and received the "fob not found" DIC message. Moved the fob to a different pocket and no problem after that. happened twice, so I now know that the iPhone can block the fob signals.
From the Corvette Owners Manual NO FOBS DETECTED
This message displays if the vehicle
does not detect the presence of a
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
transmitter when you have
attempted to start the vehicle or a
vehicle door has just closed. The
following conditions may cause this
message to appear.
. Driver-added equipment plugged
into the accessory power outlet
on the center console is causing
interference. Examples of these
devices are cell phones and cell
phone chargers, two-way radios,
power inverters, or similar items.
Try moving the RKE transmitter
away from these devices when
starting the vehicle. In addition,
PDA devices and remote garage
and gate openers may also
generate Electromagnetic
Interference (EMI) that may
interfere with the RKE
transmitter. Do not carry the
RKE transmitter in the same
pocket or bag as these devices.

With the phone mounted that close to the RCDLR, it's not surprising if it's causing interference. Seems some vettes are more sensitive to stuff like that. Maybe different production runs of the RCDLR.

I'm going to begin the experiment by removing my phone from my left pants pocket and placing it in the Proclip AFTER I fire up the car. I think the proximity of the phone to the RCDLR could be an issue so trying different approaches with the phone might be a good way to find out. Yeah, I know I could conduct the experiment by just trying to start the car multiple times in one sitting, but I'd like to avoid unnecessary wear on the car's starter and electrical system. That being said, a definitive answer may take some time so I'll periodically update this thread.
I had a phone mount on the center vent - it was wireless charger too. Caused all kinds of issues. All the tire sensors would go out and intemittent fob issues. I updated the stereo for wireless android auto and now keep the phone in my pocket. No more issues. My experience is these cars are very "electronically" sensitive.
Phones were known or suspected to cause interference wit the electronics in early C6's. By 08 a lot of the gremlins in the 05-06 years were done but yes, your phone can cause interference.
Wanted to let you know that with my new jeep GC (in 2013) my fob would not be recognized if I had it in my front pocket with my work Issued blackberry.
I tend to have this issue with several cars and discovered my RFID wallet will definitely create interference. I carry both the wallet and the fob in the same pocket and to access/start the car I need to jostle my pocket around to get the car to recognize it.
I have the Proclip in the same location on my 08. Never had that issue with my phone in the clip, though I have an Android phone. What I do get is a "FOB Not Detected" warning on the DIC when I leave the phone charger plugged into the Accessory !2V in the center console and shut the car off. Once I pull the plug all is well.
Am I the only one that noticed the iPhone fits/stays perfectly inside the cup holder, against the dash. I drove seven hours with it like that back to Ohio without any issues.
OP Here: Took the Vette out yesterday and was careful to start the car before taking the phone out of my left front pocket. This approach, after six starts, resulted in perfection every time with no "Not found" messages. I did have to catch myself due to my previous habit of putting the phone in the holder before starting the car.
I had similar no fob detected issues in my '08. I used a cigarette lighter-usb adapter for my Iphone and would commonly leave it plugged into the cigarette lighter. I read somewhere that these adaptors can interfere if left plugged in. I started unplugging the adapter when not used and the issue went away.
