I have been dealing with a pretty horrible bucking issue when trying to apply over 25% throttle over 4k RPM. The car will violently start bucking and fall on its face. Almost to the point of dying if i dont give it throttle input to keep her alive.
I thought this could be plug wires, changed those. No change. spark plugs also changed. MAF cleaned.
The issue is intermittent, but the car definitely feels under powered.
Upon trying to troubleshoot this i noticed what appears to be power steering fluid flung on the inside of my hood. I am not sure which parts are what though.
Anybody have any advice if these items are related to my issues? i obviously understand something needs to be done about the PS.. but i dont even know what this part is!
appears to be the actual steering rack in your picture. Id first verify where the fluids coming from before anything.
Yes sir. that piece is right at the very end. i looked for some diagrams online but couldnt locate that actual part.
Its def power steering fluid because when i opened the resovoir it hissed, and was barely any fluid in there.
Could this coincide with the bucking i am experiencing? i switched over the fuel pump relay with HVAC and no change. really hoping it isnt a pump, or something worse.
Likely leaking from the pump seal or a hose that connects the pump to the res, and dripping onto the belt. Highly doubt your rack or hardline is leaking, given if it was it wouldn't be dripping on the belt from that location and flinging it onto the hood liner.
Check under the intake, near where it connects to the throttle body, covered in fluid there too? Likely going to need to pull the ps pump out and replace.

Hey Bud. thanks for this. i hear the PS pump is kind of a PITA to replace on this car no? Not that it matters because it is obviously failing. Just a matter of if i do it myself or have a shop do it.
So do you think this could be causing the bucking issue? this really boggles my mind because i have no CELs on the dash but i can hear the car misfiring from the exhaust. kind of like a dull popping noise when at idle that is out of sync with the rest of the noise.

No idea on the bucking, maybe someone else will have more experience with that. For the pump though, it's not a bad job. The most annoying part is just the positioning of everything since you're leaning a lot over the fender a lot. I think if you regularly work on your own car you'll find it pretty straight forward. I've had mine out several times so if you ever got stuck or had questions could just ask here too.
You may have the proverbial C6 high pressure power steering pump hose leak. It's a pain to change (the original is about 14" long), and the new "improved" hose is MUCH longer and travels along the steering rack, does a 180, then returns to the steering box. I replaced mine myself, and while I was at it changed the power steering pump at the same time. Patience is the key.......the bucking isn't associated with this problem......do you throw any codes after the bucking?
As far as the bucking issue, my symptoms were not just like yours, as sometimes it would barely idle and bucking then it would go away for a few minutes only to return while driving. I disconnected the MAF and the problem went away. Turns out one of the two hydrocarbon absorbing pads in the air filter assembly came loose and was flopping around right in front of the MAF. Removed it and problem solved. This is a rare issue though.
