Default C6 Engine

After reading all the speculation and lurking in here, here's what I'm guessing for the C6...

6.0L V8

The SS concept has one. I suspect that a 6.0L engine will allow the 'vette to
move up in horsepower in its base trim to maintain a competitive lead on everything else in its class. Also, it seems a lot of the rumor-mongering online points to at least a 6.0L, if not a 6.3L engine...

Also, greater displacement would give owners of C5s a clear reason to consider adding a C6 to their garage. Even if the new skin doesn't wow everyone, I would gamble that GM knows that upping the displacement would boost sales of the new car.

(not that 'vettes have ever had trouble selling!)

Sounds like what we've been hearing all along, a bigger engine for the base model, and another bigger engine for the Z06 when it comes out.

Maybe they can do this in the stroke, Like all the engines come with 4. something bore maybe say for example a 4.1 bore and a 3.75 stroke for base and then Z06 would go a little more stroke like 3.875 or something else, But the example I gave would be just too big of an engine, they probably wont let the Corvette have that. Maybe a 6L Standard, 6.2 or 6.3L Z06? Just my .03 cents

As long as 'reliability' doesn't get compensated, then I'm in !

A 6.0L engine would be great......but I hope they call it 365 or 367 not 366 that ends with two even numbers (against the grain)..... :leaving:

I wonder if they'll use sodium-phospate filled valves like on the '02 Z06 vettes, now that would be  ......virtually eliminates valve float !

There have been some rumors that put the Hi-Performance engine anywhere from 450hp to closer to 500. One of the last rumors I heard was that base HP would be 435 with an optional engine at 450. What if the optional engine isn't for the Hi-Performance model? Would GM give the C6 a base engine based off the 5.7L LS6 at 435 HP, and offer an option to get a 6.0L 450 HP DOD engine? That would be the only way I could see to get Corvette buyers to choose a DOD engine - give it more HP. Then a year later give the Hi-Performance car a 6.3L 475+ HP engine.

Just some thoughts on C6 engines.

Then two more years they go 6.5L 525HP :yesnod: ( By then Viper would have touched the 600 mark) :auto:
