I have a 2007 automatic Convertible that just recently stopped going into Reverse or Park. There are no dashboard lights that come on to indicate any problems. I have been told and researched a little bit, that this may be as simple as a linkage cable, or could be a bad tranny.
Has anyone here ever encountered this issue? Would really love to hear your experience as far as what it was and what it cost to fix it?
Thank you so much!!
Trish
It would drive but I've got it parked nose end to the curb. I can't back it out because it won't go in reverse. There have been no weird noises or anything. I haven't been able to get it anywhere to see what codes it's showing.
Problems with the auto shifter are common on the C6, especially as they age. Several posts concerning this problem and they focus on either the cable or cable bushing failures (bushings fail due to age & heat). Most recent post where I provided response is below. It will address both items and be careful, because this one resulted in a replacement of the cable that broke during the bushing replacement at the shifter end.
Good luck and let us know your diagnosis and resolution...GD
