I have a bone stock 2005 base with a4 trans, and it is having some electrical issues. I plugged in my obd2 scanner to clear a recurring code for my fuel level sensor and it failed to connect. After several more failed attempts, i tried with the engine on, same problem. I tried to drive, but the car was clearly in second gear and wouldn't shift up or down, even when manually selecting gears. Used a different scan tool, no change. While either tool is hooked up, the traction and abs lights are illuminated, but the lights go away as soon as the devices are unplugged.
To sum it up, obd readers that are known to be good power up, but don't communicate. While hooked up, they create active faults in tcm and abs. Tomorrow i will hook my bidirectional scanner up to see if a battery powered device has better luck... Has anyone dealt with this issue?
