Do dashboard covers really protect against leather buckling in hot climates?
Any recommendations? It looks like Zip Corvette and Amazon are showing the same cover.

Not sure if they do, yet. I have the same concerns as you. So I just bought one for my 2010 GS. I purchased it from Dash Covers

I use a covercraft dash cover on a hot sunny day when parked but from what I've read the leather dash delaminating happens to garage kept cars in the cooler climates so hot sun doesn't seem to be a major factor. Lots of information on this site and others about it.

Reason: Covercraft not Coverking

I think it is an issue with the LT3 no matter what the climate.
Where are you getting the work done? Any pics? Any idea of how they are going to approach the job?
I am assuming you have a leather wrapped dash.
A local shop in town. The leather is just starting to buckle near the windshield. They are going to remove the windshield and go in that way to stretch out the buckling (leather is still soft, not brittle) and glue it down. $500 if they don't break the windshield, $1,000 if I need a new windshield. They have a glass company (Safelite type) remove and replace the windshield but there is no guarantee it won't crack. It might be cheaper, the guy said it is a 2-hour job once the windshield is out, so maybe my numbers are high.
They have done other work for me and my wife (she just had leather seats taken out and stitched where it was coming apart at the seams $125) so I trust them
I heard of guys paying $4,000+ for new interiors, so this almost sounds reasonable.

I paid $350, but I removed the dash myself and took it in. Also could've re-glued it myself, but $350 for someone else to do it and if it comes back up I can take it back to them. I wouldn't risk them removing the windshield and then charging me if they break it.

I wouldn't be able to take the dash out myself so this sounded like the best option.

The op asked the question. While others posted that they ordered a dash cover in the hope of avoiding leather buckling in hot climates. I'm not sure that I would cover a 4LT dash with a dash cover in hot climates. My concern would be that heat would build up under the cover and dry out the glue. And yes I'm aware that garage queen cars can still have the minimum glue dry out and experience leather buckling.
Since the op's original question wasn't addressed...I'd like to hear if a dash cover is a good option, I remain unconvinced. Let me hear other thoughts.

Thanks GS2013. I was going to ask the interior guys when I bring the car in. Many, many people use them here in southern AZ.

Yes but do they have leather or vinyl?
With a vinyl dash I'd use a UV protectant like 303 and a dash cover like many use. With a 4LT dash (especially if it were perfect) I'm not sure I'd use a dash cover. You're in Tucson, nasty sun and heat there. I'm thinking that it would really get hot under the dash cover. Again, waiting to hear from others, until then con guidado.

My guess would be vinyl, they are Toyotas and Hondas for the most part.
I put a dashmat cover on my base '08 in early '09, just to reduce the glare. It was still there and appeared in like new condition when I sold the car 2 months ago. I have no idea what the dash itself looked like.
