Default new owner 2007 vert

Hello all, l currently own a 03 vert which l will be keeping but l have some questions for the experts. Do l need to change the battery to an AMG or is the computer under the tray like the c5? Is the cig lighter always live so l can plug in my battery tender? She is a m6 and how would l know if the car has the 1st to 4th component wire installed? Lastly, is there anything else l should be concerned about? The harmonic balancer just got replaced. Thank you in advance.

Lots of folks here will argue AMG is best but I don’t use one. I believe the electronics under the battery tray is why some go with AMG for fear of a leak. The cig and console socket are always hot. I use the console for my battery tender. You would have to look on top of the trans to see if the plug has been installed and/or the under hood fuse box for the fuse that does the same thing. If you get the message on the DIC try and go to another gear besides 4th and see if it will engage.

Congrats on your purchase.

Forgot to mention. Even if skip shift is installed the message will still appear in the DIC if the condition is met.

Good additional info as this was answered about the time the question went from my brain to my voice box! Would he be able to tell by driving super slow and shifting?
