Clear coat for 2009
Somehow I have some scratches in back of my right front wheel on the fender. I originally thought it was road spray from driving in the rain. I wiped off the area and they disappeared but reappeared as soon as the water dried. Then I felt the area and I could feel the scratches. I figure touch up with some clear coat, level, sand, and polish will take care of it. However, other than a GM product, I didn't know what would be good to use. My 2009 corvette is crystal red metallic tintcoat. Also I tried touching it up with some Meguires Hybrid Wax Ceramic so I imagine I'll need to get that out of the scratches before I start with the clear coat. Any suggestions?

'Roadrash' on my '08 Z06 at & around brake ducts was bad, real bad, looked like crap.
Since I've JSB metallic only course I had was a pro fix at repitable bodyshop.
Both rear quarters were removed, sanded & repainted.
Both doors were feathered back ~12-15" for best match possible.
*Acquired a set of skirts which were also painted & installed same time.
Shortly after had Xpel applied so as not to do this again while I own it.
Looks fabulous now, like new; although, was not an inexpensive venture.
My POV is get whaat one pays for...YMMV.

I was told by a friend to polish it out but I'd rather add a little clear coat and polish it then. I'd rather add thickness to the paint than polish down to the color.

Last thing I needed was a respectable expense.
Truth is I drove whenever there wasn't snow; however, sand from previous snows abraded paint pretty bad, anyway.
Went thru' this w/ my '06, acquireed Apsis front guards soon after taking possession og '08 hoping to avoid damage again.
No love, while Apsis minimized damage greatly they didn't prevent it either.

OTOH if it doesn't, probably looking at a fix similar to mine.
