Loosen the nut until you can turn it with your fingers, then rock the cable connector clockwise and counterclockwise while lifting. It also helps to pry with a screwdriver at the side away from the cable while lifting on the cable end. Put some beef on it.

Looks like there’s a fair amount if corrosion between the post and clamp. I’d spray a bit of WD 40 on there and let it soak in for maybe 15 minutes. And as suggested, the nut must be loosened before you try to remove it. I have to say, though, that one thing this style of clamp does not do is hold on very tight. I had do use a socket large enough to just fit over the post, and then gently tap the clamp down before tightening the nut before I could get a solid joint. And even then, it was never a problem to rotate the clamp back and forth a bit after loosening the nut and then to pull the clamp up. No lever of any kind was ever needed.

I don't think I'd use WD-40, it's flammable and the cable arcing could cause it to catch fire.

I certainly wouldn’t spray it on something that was arcing, but WD40 seems to think it’s OK for battery posts

Once the bolt is totally loose it's only a matter of rocking and tilting the cable. It will come off.

I did that. But what is that clip looking overlap grip? Normally, I’d rip it off. But I thought I’d ask here first.

I got the nut completely off. Rocked it. Is something holding it down or on?

Don’t rip off the clip. It’s used as an anchor to draw the clamp tighter. The conical nut when tightened against the slot causes the part that hooks over the clip to pull towards the stud that has the nut. The stud sticks up through the slot and is attached to the other side of the clamp.

Thiank you. Will give it a shot. I just got the car. 2008 AO Z06 3LZ. In December actually. Looks like it’s a battery from 2019.

Replace those shitty terminals with something like these. They clamp better, gold plated for less corrosion, and they have extra holes to make adding extra relays or stereo wires super easy.

How difficult is it to replace the stock ones?

Very easy. I snipped the old ones off. Degreased and straightened the wires. Put them in the new terminals and tightened down the set screws. Then install them on the battery.

I found them at autozone

You found these at Autozone ???…these OEM are junk…I have them tightened and they are still somewhat loose even with new conical nuts.

Yes they are working great for me. Can't believe gm used such cheap flimsy terminals.
