Anybody out there know what fuse in the floorboard/dash fuse panel is “hot” all the time? I’m installing a Curb Alert and the unit I got was marked for C5-C6 but it looks like it was meant for a C7. Mine is an ‘07 Base. Apparently it needs 12v constantly and is activated by the higher voltage produced when the engine is running. Online instructions show installation on the C6 using the attached “fuse tap” to tap into the seat heater fuse (10 amp) but that doesn’t seem to me that it would be “hot” all the time. My kit has a lug and nut to attach to the positive post on the underhood fuse box. I’d rather neaten up the installation and have the sensor be the only thing outside. I’m more than a little hesitant to probe with my 12v test light, the computer gods may be angered!
Also, you could check the EXHMDL fuse location to see if it is powered. That would be the location for the bimodal muffler control unit which base cars wouldn’t have in 2007, but Z06 would. Your diagram on the back of the kick panel wouldn’t have a labelled but you can see where it is in the pic below. It’s one of the locations circled in red. It’s powered all the time for NPP optioned and bimodal equipped cars, so if you’re lucky……..
Thanks to all that replied. I used the EXH MDL fuse location and it's powered all the time and shows higher voltage when the Vette's running, just what Curb Alert wanted! Plenty of room for the fuse tap too. So far, so good!
