I think I am losing my 2nd gear synchro. In a medium pull in first to shift into 2nd I get some gear grind. I just finished sinking over 5K into the car last month and now I may have to get the tranny fixed too. Anyone had their trans rebuilt or had the synchros replaced? What kind of cost am I looking at?

Syncros will grind at any rpm and load.
id first make sure it’s actually a synchro first. Does double clutching fix the grind?
does it grind at all loads and rpm?
does it grind or scratch?
My guess, is sling shot'g the shifts, before the synchro clutch disc has time to speed match the gears, for a clean engagement.
So other parts may be fine, and the only problem is the friction disc (middle right), needs to be replaced since it worn out.
My guess, both the friction rings, and possible the engagement gear teeth tips are both worn for second gear, so semi into a trans rebuild in the ends.
