I have an estimate from my Chevy dealer of $2000 to replace all the rear seals in the 2008 transaxle. Sounds a little bit high to me. How much should I be paying?
I am a 60 year old with zero professional automotive repair experience and I could replace two rear axle shaft seals for $14 in parts and 3-4 hours labor in my driveway. FYI

Need to back it up, since are the seal leaking since they are just old/dried out/cracking,
Or are they leaking since the bearings are worn out, and this is what is causing the seals to leak (oblong wear to the seal lips), and the bearings need to be replaced as well.
To take it one step farther, would break out the torque wrench to see what the break-away torque value is on the diff clutch packs (should be 100ft lbs) and if the diff needs to come apart to change the bearings, and diff clutch parks are worn, would be a good time to have them replaced as well. Also, if you have a leak between the diff to trans case, good time to pull the diff housing to change out the O ring as well.
