Just had a new stereo installed (Kenwood DMX809s). Want to get a reverse camera installed now. Want something high end and a clean look, not a license plate attachment. Those that have one installed, have you removed the trunk lock and put one there? Or did you put it somewhere else? Also recommendations for an actual camera would be greatly appreciated, thank you
I used the Kenwood camera recommended for my radio DDX6906S and all has been well. It's a little more expensive than some options which there are a lot now. It was easy to install but time consuming. It looks fine but I wouldn't mind it being less noticeable too.

Yep! I decided on it to avoid any compatibly issues with the head unit.
It comes with a strip of tape but I tucked the end under one of the back screws (I'll attach a pic) and before a track event decided to put in a small screw on the other side. I was hoping to see peoples faces when they tailgate but it's such a wide angle the view isn't zoomed in enough.
Edit, I didn't put it on the other screw to the left which is more centered because I didn't want to get stopped in case it blocks the license plate light.

Any particular reason you didn’t install it right here? Or is that where you thought I’d block the plate? How do you like it so far? How’s the picture quality? Thanks man
I recently went with the same Kenwood. I was also wanting a camera that didn't stick out and decided to go with a C7 OEM Backup camera. It takes a little more work to re-locate the hatch release, and wire the camera. In the end I think it is the best looking option.

I used this camera last year on an Alpine and then Sony head unit. My buddy got the same one a few weeks later. It’s easy to install and has a quality image. It attaches through one of the 2 license plate light screw holes. The light stays right where it’s supposed to with just the one screw as the camera somewhat wedges it in place and unless your looking for the camera you can’t tell it’s there. Unfortunately I don’t have an install picture of the camera mounted (my cars in a million pieces at the shop getting some motor work) but I can assure you I’m pretty **** about things like this and I’ve got no issues.

This is the same one I have installed. Seems to be holding up well, and the picture is definitely passable. I suppose I may end up going with the C7 camera if this one bites it...
