Default C6 Nav

I'd like to update my 2009 nav system but Chevy says the car is too old.
Any ideas please?

I guess getting a new HU with modern technology is not an option?

Replace the headunit and make your life easier. I would never rely on maps that old!

This is why phone integration is the way to go now adays. They are updated constantly with no worries about discs and drives yearly.
From what I remember what the dealers charged for updates, you can buy a whole new head unit basically and use CarPlay.

That disc was released for 2016, so the data on it is probably no recent than 2015. I’m using the same disc. It’s mostly OK, but every now and again it shows me driving through a field.

Yep, and for the most part, the electronics/display on the unit if from 2004.

So unless you just have to have the Oem system in the car for say event judging, update the unit with an aftermarket that does have current maps, and it's features that are current gen as well. Which one, prefer the Kenwood system, is not going Android rooted system , since the kenwood nav program is easy to use to begin with.

As for android rooted system, the sky is the limit on which nav program(s) you want to install in it at will, including other programs as well.

Accept 2015 as the newest update or replace the head unit with something aftermarket. Being new to my 2012 NAV system I'm ok with it as-is and I can plug my iPod in and have all the music I want. As for maps I have an iPhone for that if I can't find an address on the NAV unit. I will say the whole NAV unit is outdated and clunky to use compared to modern day systems.

Disclaimer, I don't own a gold chain or wear white New Balance tennis shoes, I just like my iPod.

First, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Just brought home my 2008 C6. Owner took good care of his car but was not into the updates so the Nav disc is V4.0. I am well aware a full replacement is preferred but the Nav is not bad and I like the intergration with the HUD. Does anyone have the Firmware update including the mp3 and the v9.0 for the European map that I can either borrow or buy from you. Comments appreciated.\]

I am pretty sure I saw an answer to this question somewhere on the forum but now can't find it...my 2008 C6 has the original factory Nav and HUD. I would replace it with a current aftermarket unit but prefer not to loose the HUD compatibility. If I understand correctly the C7 Navigation would be an updated plug-n-play unit but will it also be compatible with the HUD, or have I got it completely wrong?

Thanks.

You only loose the radio channel display, and navigation displays on the HUD when going aftermarket, all the other displays (speed, tach etc.) will still be there, and work just fine.

Hopefully you don't wear sandals with socks. or shorts with sneakers with socks just below the knee... I mentioned to my wife if she ever saw me doing either, to just shoot me to put me out of my misery .

That would be great if it was plug and play with the C6.

I wear shorts with non-white sneakers and white socks that are nowhere near my knees, oh and I do yard work in short pants and John Deere boots. I'm not too cool for school so I don't wear flip flops on airplanes or motorcycles. Come to think of it I don't ride motorcycles either.

I understand that Version 10 was the last release for the C6 NAV CD. My 2013 came with Version 9. It would be nice to have the last release for nastalgic reasons but I could not find it for sale, at least not affordably.

ADDING LATER: I just found Version 10 for sale, new on CD for $30. I just bought one. The ad says it is compatible with part number 22944166 which is the GM part number stated on my NAV DVD case.

You can just burn a disc with that iso and it will work as the newest map? Can you send me the file somehow? Thanks!
