I have an 07 vert. The trunk
only pops up a very small distance when I open the trunk. I changed the trunk struts but that did not help. I think I saw a spring contraption so the trunk opens wider. Does anybody have any info on this?
thank you in advance
What your talking about the Corvette Catalog stores sold them for C5 Corvette, there is nothing for C6, yours operate normal, cause ours on the Coupe has a pull down hatch functions don't know convertibles does.
I got one of the hatch & trunk lid pop up spring thingies off eBay just to see what it would do. It really does hold the hatch lid up a bit higher making it easier to get fingers underneath. It might make the hatch a tiny bit harder to close, but I don't notice it. Less than $10 shipped & works as advertised.
You're right, your hatch should pop up a bit when you release it so you can put your finger underneath to open it. I found when closing that the car is so airtight I have to have the driver door popped unlatched so that a bit of air escapes and allows the hatch to close properly.

I have a ‘13 convertible, the trunk doesn’t spring up very much at unlatch but it’s no problem to open it. Is this something new that your car just started doing? Or maybe it’s new to you and functioning normally?
I too have had the issue on my vert where most times it doesn't pop open enough. The way I get around it is to push the release button above the license plate instead of the key fob. Pushing the little black release button above the license plate several times as i try to get my fingers under the trunk lid works fine. I use to close the trunk and try re-opening it before trying to use the release button but hitting the button several times seems to work better.
I made my own spring setup rather than pay $15-25 for some that are advertised out there.....found a spring and a soft rubber cap and loosened the passenger side screw and slid the spring under it.....works like a charm.
The 06 vert that I previously owned did the same thing. The 13 vert I currently own does not have this problem as the trunk lid raises up much higher than the 06's did. I just assumed it was a running design change to improve this problem.
Has anyone considered just lubricating the hatch mechanism ? I know on some Ford trucks, the hood latch over time can get gummed up to where they don’t pop up like they should, and adding some lube to the mechanism can get them to operate like new again. Just wondering.
Here's a Possibility? I am assuming that once you get your fingers in the space it opens easily. However, the spring was designed to open the lids weight to the stop point (which was put there to keep a none completely closed lid from being sucked open if driving). So according to Factory Service manuals, which of course everyone has, is everyone lubing the pivot points of the lid itself? The spring could be "tired" but a minor bit of added friction at the pivot points could also cause it to "stick a bit"! Try a bit a white lithium or I even have used "lock-ease" as moisture does not affect either. I have never had the problem on our Vette, so I don't know what's easier, and/or a better long-term solution.
