Default Lock/Unlock Button/BCM

Trying to isolate a problem with my lock/unlock button.
Research says it could be related to the Body Control Module.
I’ve read where it’s ok to disconnect the battery and then check the blue plug connection.
Also read where it’s not advisable and the BCM would need to be reprogrammed.
Path of least resistance might simply be the door lock fuse.
My question is does the fuse control all of the lock functions?
Everything else lock wise is working ok.
By the way…everything else the BCM controls seems to be ok.

First off, no real lock/unlock mech function to the system, so button push just tell the BCM if it should activate the latch mech in the first place. Hence engine running, have to push the unlock button to tell the BCM it ok to unlatch the door when you to push the release button next.

If you pull the door lock buttons, can trace the output wires from it to the BCM connector, to see if you have a problem in them to begin with.

As for button itself, if you don't want to pull it apart to clean and fix it if its the problem, easy enough replace it isntead.

Hence since you have a button on both sides, and the wires from the Button check out fine/other sides works, then its really does just come down to the unlock button being the problem instead. So quick check, get someone in the other seat as well, start the car and put it into drive, have the other person push the unlock button on the other side of the car, then check both doors to see if the unlatch button is working both sides to open the doors. If yes, then close both doors, have them push the lock button, then you try the unlock button from your side.

Hey Dano - as always, thank you for your very thorough explanation.
In my case, I think it’s simply a case of the audible signal disappearing.
No idea why but the lock/unlock feature is functioning normally.

The tone feature is run through the radio then center speaker (pushed out of the BCM into the radio), so if you lost the tone for the buttons, and still running the stock radio with center speaker still connected, then setting problems.
If after market radio and again center speaker still in play, then check the setting levels in the after market radio adapter.

It is an aftermarket setup.
The lock/unlock function is working perfectly.
Going to check the speaker settings tomorrow.
Can certainly live without the audible.
Thanks again for the education!!
