That is a pretty opened ended question and a matter of personal preference. I personally love the looks of both but I wound up buying a narrow body and have never looked back. I say buy what you like the best and not worry what others think.

Definitely personal preference, but having owned both, I really love the look of the wide-body cars. To me (especially when they're coming directly at you) they look much more aggressive.
I went narrow and don't regret it. I thought all the options and color were important but not deal breakers. Only thing I know for a fact I would've regretted is not buying a manual. Looking back, I would be PISSED if I had an automatic. NOW, that doesn't mean I don't have wide body envy! The next one will be an Inferno Orange GS manual, wife will inherit the Victory Red base. (Can't call it a collection if I only have 1)
Having owned both, 2008 coupe and 2013 GS, I liked the GS better for the looks and style. Now, what you decide is up to you. In either case, look carefully for the C6 that makes your heart, or whatever body part, go YES - that is the ONE!! Good luck.
If you're the same guy that posted earlier today and said you're a college student on a limited budget. Maybe you should buy something within your budget for transportation. Graduate then do some research and buy what you can actually afford. You're to early in life to be worried about getting the best, impressing others by spending more than you have. Just my old guy advise.
Here's my Victory Red 2006 Convertible LS2 6 speed manual. I think it looks great despite the negative comments about narrow body C6's. GM produced quite a lot more C6 corvettes between 2005-2007 and a larger percentage of manual transmissions so it is easier to find a manual convertible and Victory Red in this 3-year period. No doubt that the Grand Sport wide body is a great looking design as well. Mine is a daily driver and currently has 74K miles on it. I bought it as a mint, low mileage, very well-maintained garage queen and take great care of it and never abuse it. Even still, since I purchased it nearly 4 1/2 years ago, I have replaced the harmonic balancer, alternator, all of the pulleys and tensioners, belts, spark plugs and wires, shocks, end links and sway bars, PS high pressure line, trunk and hood struts, gas cap, battery twice, all fluids at least twice, oil every 4K, tires and tire pressure monitors. This is all normal for the age and mileage and next will be brakes since they are original. If you're on a tight budget and buying a C6 for price you should expect to replace all of these items and incur all of this maintenance plus more on a low priced higher mileage car and is expected on any 17-19 year old car. I suggest that you save the mod money for maintenance and repairs.
I have a narrow and love it. I wanted low mileage and found my 07 with 11k on it. Because it's a toy I had a price I wanted to stay under. Couldn't justify more than 30k when it sits in storage for 6 months a year. All that being said, I absolutely love the look of the grand sport. It would be my first choice.
widebody is definitely the "nicer" ones. who doesn't like a widebody. But also, to me personally the difference in price (~7-10k price difference) is just not worth it. I went with a narrowbody and haven't really looked back.
Maybe I need to go to the local cars and coffee more, but unless you're comparing them two side by side, it's hard to tell much of a difference..
I have a narrowbody Z51 vert manual and love it. I do have GS envy based entirely on looks alone. I love GSs but the upcharge is considerable compared to what you get.

it’s not considerable for what you get. You get a lot for that upgrade. It’s like going from a base BMW to an M car. There is a lot there, just not a lot that non racer oriented people can always justify.
The widebody cars are track weapons. The base cars are fun sports cars with higher capabilities than normal cars.
Depends on your budget and what you want to do with it.
In the other thread, you mentioned that you are a college student on a budget and looking for a DD. Been there, done that.
Without going into whether a C6 makes any sense as a DD in general, if I were looking for a DD (as in "I cannot be late to school/work/that big interview"), I'd rather have a well-maintained low-mileage narrow-body automatic that runs and drives than a roached out manual GS or Z06 that runs if and when it feels like it.

I should have said worth it to me. I have a Z51and don’t track, plenty performance for me. If I was to buy a GS, it would be a vert that doesn’t have dry sump. I love the GSfor its looks.
Had my 2008 since new. Love this car. Quiet, smooth, reliable. Just got back from a 1,500 mile round trip to Melbourne Florida. Had no issues or concerns. Still looks and drives like brand new. Yes, I like the looks of the GS. But if you are looking for your first Corvette I would just wait and see what the market presents you. You may find a minty low mile base car that would be a better choice than a high mile somewhat rough GS. Either way, buy on mechanical and cosmetic condition and documented maintenance history. And that could lead you to either a base car or a GS. Good luck looking!

I think everyone at some point needs to get their cars out on a closed course because in my experience it's the most fun you can have with them. I had my Z06 on the AutoX more than once, and I recently found a new location just north of me that will let me take my convertible on their track (with a helmet, of course). They also have a C8 Z06 on hand.
