I replaced my 2007 factory H-pipe with a 2010 X-pipe and NPP cat back with only jack stands. Can't recall how high I had it, but it wasn't at the maximum jack stand height and it really wasn't a problem. Just make sure to wear good safety glasses! Mine weren't the best and I ended up with a trip to the ophthalmologist.
I had the loudest BB cat back with the little bullet mufflers and it was awful. Drone so loud you cant think straight, so don't get that one.
Only thing i remember about the install was jack it up as high as you can and unbolt the sway bar mounts on the frame and the bar will drop straight down out of the way. You don't have to remove the bar.
Then unbolt the factory pipes and twist them around different ways till they come out. It was kind of a pain.
For work that doesn't require removing the wheels, I prefer to use ramps. I use rhino ramps and have no issues. You can easily change the exhaust on a set of ramps or jack stands.
