Default Steering column question

I tried to search but not much luck.Maybe i am searching wrong.I was curious if anyone knows if a steering column from a 2011 will work in a 2008.I find them listed for various years .My 2008 has some side play and I have a good column from a wrecked 2011.was hoping I could just swap them out.I think I will have to center the SWP sensor but I have a Tech II so that shouldn't be a problem.Any insight on this is appreciated!!

My guess is that like about 90% of the car, it should be a direct swap.

they are the same, and just change out the clock spring if needed.

As for SWP, should be reading zero with the steering wheel centerd, so not a tech 2 kind of reset, but using Tech 2 to keep SWP at zero, while front tie rods are corrected to get wheel pointed forward correctly on aligment instead.

As for existing swp in the new used column may be still good, or may need to be replaced if column was spun more than a few turns either way, to break the sensor. same with clock spring on it, if column was spun a few turns either way.

Finally got to tackle this job.Job was really easy but like always there were a few differences. The knuckle on the pivot is a little different,no big deal. The only major thing was the different SWPS.The plugs are different as is the sensor.I now have an extra steering column because I have to get an earlly style so I can hook up the sensor and get the warning and light off the dash.
