Default Service Active Handling Code C0710-1F

When I start the car the "Service Active Handling" message pops up on the dash. I pulled the code with my scanner and the DTC code is "C0710-1F Steering Position Signal Intermittent." I clear the code and the service active handling message goes away but comes back shortly after. Has anyone had the same issue? What did you do to fix it? Thanks.

Sounds like the steering position sensor along the column. Lots of threads on this DIC message because there are lots of different causes.

It's probably the connector for the steering sensor. GM had a recall on them that involved sticking a plastic comb like device in the backshell of the connector in a feeble attempt to tighten up the contacts.

I unplugged mine (on the steering column), then reconnected and put a zip tie around the sensor and pulled it tight, and it's been fine for nearly 2 years. That did it for me.....
