Default Program Tire Pressure sensor

My buddy has a 2007 C7 that one of the wheel sensors has failed .

First question the oem replacements are several hundred dollars do you guys have a aftermarket that you would recommend?
Second, the reprogramming tool you can get from like Amazon can reset location but will it work to set up a new out of the box sensor?

Thanks

This is what I bought when I changed wheels on my 2010 ZR1 with aftermarket sensors, and it worked perfectly: https://a.co/d/1NOQ3Br

I'm about to use it again on my Grand Sport since I just bought a set of OEM ZR1 wheels and Michelin tires for it. The TPMS sensors that are in these ZR1 wheels came from Discount Tire and were ~$60 each.

Budget stuff I have used on my 07 without issues. My $90 GM OE sensor lasted a couple on months. My $12 Autohaus sensor is over 2 years old and still going strong. So seems to be a crap shoot.

And, Yes, the programmer will learn your sensors off the wheel. Just keep them far enough apart when doing. It is a good idea anyway to make sure they work and learn before you install them.

Pay the extra few dollars, and go with these Schraders.
https://www.tpmsdirect.com/Schrader_...rvette-337.htm
Also to add, you can get them with silver, black, chrome, or gun metal stems, if you are running after market rims and what the stems to match the color of the rims.

On some of the other than Schrader aftermarket types, batteries don't seem to last as long, and don't go OEM, since god only knows how long they have been sitting on the shell with batteries already half life'd.

If one sensor is going out, others will shortly behind that one next. So replace as set.
As for replacement, tire shop can just break the bead to swap them out without having to pull the tires off the rim and not rebalace the tire, but since tires may not have been re balanced in a while, prefer to have all the tpms replaced, and tires rebalance as well.

Also, if you have a discount tire close to you, give them a call of the price of new Schrader installed in the tires, and often will find that they will do them cheaper, than having you supply the sensor with them installing them in the end.

As for programming, most tires shops will have a tmps trigger to relearn them to the car, but nice to have the OEC-t5 trigger tool, if you need to relean them down the line to the RCDLR, to solve a glitching problem.
