Default Another Steering Wheel Post

Hi.

I'm looking to replace my 2008 Steering Wheel.

My research has led me to either RFE or APSIS. I'm leaning towards APSIS since they are made in the USA, and have a good reputation for quality. RFE makes a super quality wheel, but I'm afraid of their madman leader suddenly deciding that the only allowable exports are to China, Iran, or North Korea.

I'm looking at this style wheel (with a leather stitched air bag cover):

1. Any comments on APSIS Steering Wheels ?

2. I'm leaning towards a Flat Top and Bottom wheel. Do any of you who have this design have a problem with it ?

3. The APSIS ExtremSport wheel has well defined side grips. Are these a problem for the casual driver, or should I be looking at less defined more subtle grips ?

4. The price for the Carbon Center Cap w/Flag Logo is $128. Pretty steep IMHO. How are these Caps retained ? Can I just pop off my stock one and pop it onto the APSIS air bag cover ?

5. I live in the Thousand Islands - South Eastern Ontario. Anyone with an aftermarket steering wheel near me ?

Thanks,
MG.....

APSIS makes quality stuff but I would go with RFE. Mine arrived within 3 months from the date of purchase.

Those emblems are not easy to get out of the cover and reuse.

Here is mine although understated as it is all leather and a round wheel. First one he had done.

I installed the Revesol Alcantara steering wheel in my 2008 and love it. $320 usd. They have carbon fiber options as well. I did my own steering wheel cover. Just bought the material at a fabric store. The center cap is just held in place with folded tabs. It is easy to remove just be gentle with it and make sure the tabs are nice and straight as the center cap is made of very thin tin material and is easily damaged. once you have removed the airbag from the cover you will see the tabs and how it is held together. There is a shop in southern Ontario Caravaggio Corvettes that sell steering wheels and air bag covers but they are a lot more money.

Apsis is over-priced, imo & not easy to deal with. Go with RFE. I've purchased two wheels and other parts from him, also sent him parts to cover in carbon fiber. There are no issues with RFE.

Aspis is very expensive but worth it. I have a custom wheel and there is no problem with it. I also have other Aspis bits.and the quality is outstanding.
