I am pretty sure I saw an answer to this question somewhere on the forum but now can't find it...my 2008 C6 has the original factory Nav and HUD. I would replace it with a current aftermarket unit but prefer not to loose the HUD compatibility. If I understand correctly the C7 Navigation would be an updated plug-n-play unit but will it also be compatible with the HUD, or have I got it completely wrong?
I would say thats completely incorrect. I doubt it would even communicate with the BCM if the connections are even the same (which I'm 99.9% certain they arent). All that aside I'd wager to say that unit wont fit the hole... I dont think they c7 unit is a standard double din like our cars but bigger. I've never seen a c7 with an aftermarket radio.
If Crutchfield says it ain’t happening, it ain’t happening. https://www.crutchfield.ca/S-aOqVkaW...-corvette.html
So by extension, that unit isn’t fitting into a C6. And if it were possible, someone would have done it in the 10 years or so since the C7 arrived.
why lol , you are replacing some crap with something still not v good lol... did you read about the maxdin which might be what you're looking for...a thread on here

And he says he can make a HUD to interface with it! He just needs to sell enough units to justify the development.
Thanks for referring me to the maxdin information, I did not see that until now. As I read it there are a few reasons it may not be right for me. Keeping in mind this is a summer driver and dedicated to mountain passes there are several reasons this approach may not be for me...1) If this is a US product there may be compatibility issues in Europe, although perhaps if it is based on Android that may not be an issue. 2) In the mountains 4G is not always available so some features will not work at all times. 3) While I am happy to dress up the interior this may deviate from the original too much for me. 4) Although I am handy, I do not have the facility to do such extensive work myself and it appears this is a big a would be rather expensive.
I am happy with a standalone nav/entertainment system but prefer the HUD compatibility.

1) My unit was default Metric and I had to change it to U.S., and it is Android based, so it can be customized (in theory) to whatever your needs may be with Google Play app downloads (like how I installed the Agama Car Launcher)
2) You can download offline maps with Google Maps, so a connection is not required. I don't run the 4G support on the unit, though, I just use CarPlay on my phone for data access
3) Yes, it definitely changes the look for sure, but to me it's in a good way
4) It's definitely not cheap comparatively speaking, but considering it comes with everything you need, for me it was worth it, and the most complicated part of the install was the rear camera, which would be the case with pretty much any after market head unit
I was not objecting to the look, I can understand your perspective. As long as it brings you all you were hoping then I would also accept the extra cost. Please keep in mind shipping from the US adds significant. It is simply a matter of perspective, not an objection. I thank you for educating me on the option. I have subscribed to the Thread. I will keep it in mind when the HUD compatibility is established.
I get cognitive dissonance between the phrases "summer driver and dedicated to mountain passes" and "HUD navigation compatibility". If you're pushing it in mountain passes you are going to want the HUD in track mode so it's not going to show any NAV info. I've still got the stock NAV but I never use it for actually getting somewhere as it's routing is pathetic. Many times in the mountains on the roads I travel it tells me it doesn't have any map data so it's worthless.
I would not disagree the original system is dated but not sure why you find the comments contradictory. I do not need track mode to enjoy the performance and anyone who tries to push the G-forces in the mountains should stick to the track, not to mention that in my region overdoing it could cost you the privilege of driving, or worse, the car itself. To be honest, the Navigation of my new SUV is not always foolproof.
do you listen to any music when you cruise the mountains? Our original headunits do not have connectivity to music source, phone, iPod, USB, etc. FM signals seem to suck in mountainous terrain so maybe like me you have to pay for satellite radio which is a cost of a couple hundred a year. I like you also like the originality, but this not being able to connect to the unit, antiquated nav system and having to pay to listen to anything other than terrestrial radio....I am really considering changing it to one of the Kenwood units. I am looking at the double dins that have the adaptors to interface the rest of the systems. I too don't like the look of the full screen that replaces the HVAC controls.
For me it would be cool to keep the HUD interface but for me the couple times i actually see the interface on the HUD, well it lags way behind the having to $$ to listen to music.
All good points. I do like music and find some music compliments the drives and the lack of interface is a disadvantage. Driving open top with the engine, road and wind noise on many occasions it's hard to enjoy the music and the experience on its own. I find when I want connectivity an FM bluetooth adapter is sufficient and don't mind using CDs, of which I have many.
Having said this, I fully understand your priority is toy with the idea of a new unit which would have the benefit of back up and maybe front camera.
Yes, the backup camera would be a nice addition also. I am looking into this. A good friend of mine builds and competes in stereo competitions recommended I look at this. It's a little pricey but this also interfaces the DIC to a new head unit. I am going to inquire if this also will interface into the HUD display

iDatalink doesn’t make an interface that’s compatible with the C6, you’d have to go with one of the other ones such as the PAC RP5-GM11.
