2013 base fuel pump
Greetings all,
About a week ago, I detected a gasoline smell in my 2013 base. I am aware that the fuel pump housing is susceptible to cracking at the little elbow on top of the assembly. Are new fuel pump assemblies as susceptible to cracking as the oem? Also, which brand manufactures the most durable replacement?
Thanks,

I always go to Rock Auto when researching what's available, they have the best selection IMO. Looks like your options are US Motor Works, Delphi, GM Genuine and Bosch, I would bet every one of those are equal in construction and/or type of material used. The GM Genuine is backordered both at Rock Auto and GM Parts Direct, If I was buying a replacement today I would dumpster dive the internet for GM Genuine or go after a Delphi.
I would not be too concerned about elbow cracking on a replacement unit. This whole issue is way overblown IMO, if this was an easy and inexpensive fix you wouldn't hear anything about this.

So genuine gm assembly or Delphi are preferable. Got it.
I just wanted to know bc I don’t want to have to do this fuel pump replacement again. I want it to be a one and done.
I appreciate your response and suggestions.

I went ahead and bought a delphi unit. That was before i saw the post about racetronix. Anyways, i did the replacement and like many others saw cracks on the elbow fitting. The main parts of the job that gave me difficulty were disconnecting and reconnecting the crossover tube, and fishing the lines in the tank to connect to the new pump assy. Luckily, the tabs on the two lines in the crossover tube did not break and remained intact. The orings looked good as well. I am worried about the connection of the two lines in the crossover tube. I hope my worry is unfounded. The car works normal so far, shows correct fuel level, no loss of power aka fuel pressure, no leaks so far, but i will keep an eye out. Many thanks to the two other posters for their willingness to help.

Good job for tackling this by yourself, most people would pay a dealer to do this
