Looking at replacing rear bulbs (turn, license, stop, reverse ) with LED and notice that there's what's called a CAN bus LED and it says may be required in some newer vehicles. What's the difference and what do I need?

No need for CAN bus LEDs on a C6.
It's no longer a "newer vehicle" as the newest ones are now 11 yrs old and the oldest are pushing 20.
I used underground lighting leds for the tails and DRLs which have built in resistors. I used a brand called Auxito for the others you mentioned. I did use Vette Lights for the dogs and high low beams. I went with HID on both of those.
