Thanks to this forum I jumped right in and installed a Kenwood Dnx697s

Gps plugged right in..

It works great with the oem bose setup.

A pillar trim removed and mic installed. Though I wish I had run the cable under the driver console trim better. Duck tape to tuck it up fixed that. I dropped the usb for android auto into the side of the passenger footwell. I did consider running it into the arm rest via the 12v socket there and removing the 12v. But didn't bother in the end.

I also installed the mgw shifter since I was in the console anyway. That was a nice upgrade too. I managed to fit both rubber shifter boots on.
Plus I got both shafts in case I want to go back to the oem shifter ****. But so far I'm liking the new ball.

I had one minor issue with the metra surround. I didn't realize the side tabs fitted into the front cover until the console wouldn't fit back on properly.. Some swearing and flashlight action and I discovered my error.



All done now and happy with the result. It's brought the head unit into the 2020s.

Oh, I went with the Crutchfield.com full kit including connectors. Was basically plug and play. Also installed a reverse camera. I ran the cable under the rear carpet and under the console. I used a tap connector to hook into the light green reverse lamp for power to the camera. The head unit harnesses took care of switching the head unit into camera mode.

Next project is full Mamo top end!

 

Did exactly the same thing as you did and love it!! Crutchfield only way to go.
