We all C5-6-7 have a defective car than can not be "fixed"! It is the nature of the car that we -owners/buyers have, They are gocart low, they "rub" on stuff! GM added "skid bars" to them because of this! There are many things that people do to try and stop it or at least reduce the amount of times it occurs (drive at an angle etc.) The Company listed - and that is how they spell it- make some type of plastic that can be attached to the "skid bar" to help. Now it of course doesn't stop it, in fact it makes the car -at those locations- even lower because of the thickness of the part. They call them "fangs". I think the two things the might do is 1) cost less $50 vs lower radiator support and labor paid or time if you do it yourself, 2) Stop making us look like idiots to the citizens that here (opps! hear) us on occasion scrape the ground, as plastic won't make as much noise as plastic! They will of course wear out also, but are cheap/easy to replace. Has anyone tried them? I think that in the miles we have driven ours so far - about 5-6K, we may have grounded 4-6 times. I think I will get a set . Just wondering anybody know anything about the Company or at least that part? Just trying to "fix" something that can not be "FIXED"!
I mean... they serve their purpose and protect the support bars (to an extent), but even with the fangs if you hit it hard enough your going to do damage. Its really just a feel good mod. I have 150k on my car which is lowered about as far as you can go on coilovers and I have never hit anything with mine, they dont even have a scratch. Just dont run up over curbs. If your hitting the support bar your running over something you shouldn't be and pulling up to far. The real solution is just don't hit **** lol.

I guess I should clarify; Those times that I have rubbed is just that lower deflector/air dam. Not the actual skid bar itself.

oh well then the fangs def wont help you with that but also dont worry about it, no amount of rubbing on that thing is going to hurt it. They're designed to scrape.
Thanks! Like most of us, all I have hit-so far- is a bit of dragging of the air dam. I have not actually hit the metal rad. support, yet! Looks like for the price it might help save some possible damage if we ever do bottom that much.
They also make little roller wheels that mount right to the skid bar. Of course, as mentioned that would cause even more of a clearance difference because of the size of the product etc. I thought about trying those and I saw the fangs before but didn’t think that would be necessary in the end. I had to replace my radiator support on my 05 when I first bought it because of the previous owner, (Older handicapped woman.) so it was broken in three places. I’ve had the car for two years and although I’ve scraped the Rubber air dam underneath, my radiator support is still scratch free. I discovered that you always have to be conscious of how low these things are.

Ya. So far that's what we have been doing. But While the plastic will prevent scratches and change the noise IF we hit the skid bar. will it prevent damage? So I guess $50 is breakfast out and 150 miles of fuel. So I probably won't. Breakfast out at a REAL DINER is our favorite road trip on our motorcycle, and maybe the Vette ( if I am allowed to drive it part of the way).

All these are is plastic caps. They are unnecessary for one, but you can diy something similar for almost nothing for two
Hi,
The Fangs are not just plastic caps. They are made made of a High Impact Superior Performance Plastic. Fangs are extremely impact resistant and 6 times more abrasion resistant than steel. They act as a bearing surface allowing the skid plates to simply slide on whatever they encounter. They relieve the friction that damages or breaks the lower radiator support. And you only lose 1/8" of ground clearance. www.saccitycorvette.com/C5Fangs.html
When I bought my 08 it was a low mileage car that needed detailing underneath. One of the areas that looked bad was the radiator support bar location because both bars were cosmetically damaged from scraping. I ordered and installed Fangs that cleaned up the appearance of the bars nicely and because of them I've had no problems since. I highly recommend them.
