Hi Guys
i have a 2009 C6 and when i was opening my top, i guess i had something close to the back cover and it was crushed trying to close, and somehow the pull down motor keeps working but the lid wouldnt close. so i disconnected the battery in order to protect the motor.. any ideas?
Sounds like the plastic housing/gearing has possibly cracked in the pull down motor in the waterfall. I had to replace one on a 2010. They’re a few hundred dollars, can be found easily and takes about a half an hour to replace. To replace the pulldown motor you are going to need to stop the top “partway through“ and bungee it (or other method) in an upright position so you can have access to the waterfall without the top collapsing on you.
If you are sure that there is nothing still impeding the tops function, attempt to get the motor to latch again and if it doesn’t, that’s your problem.
If your waterfall pull down motor is completely intact (not cracked or broken in any way), then you must’ve bent something somewhere.
Check the waterfall motor for damage first.
Hi Robert
thanks a lot for your reply. you are right on the money. i just checked the motor and it was cracked. attached are some pictures. i already ordered the new motor and housing Dorman 747-000 ( I hope i got the right one), and once i received it, i will retrofit
it with the gear and the switch from the old assembly.
i will post updated status once done.
Don’t recall having to retrofit any pieces to the original motor assembly. The one I ordered came complete. I thought all of them did. I guess you’ll find out when the package arrives.
If you ordered “the motor and the housing” that should be all of it. I imagine you might be able to just order the gearing. I’m not sure about that.
Anyways, glad I could help. Happy motoring!
That’s the right one from Dorman. It is just the plastic housing and does not include the motor. No need for the complete assembly if the motor is good.

i received the 747-000, used the switch from the old assembly and once i plugged it, it worked like a charm.
