Can any of you guys recommend or suggest exactly what to replace top end parts with on my 2007 LS 2. Seeing as I already got to take the engine apart, remove heads as I’m almost sure I’m hearing lifter noise. I want to replace it with the best possible stuff as I plan on keeping the car. I just don’t know what the latest and greatest is for the top end of this car. Thank you in advance.
i’d love to find somebody who specializes in LS rebuild in the Los Angeles area. But I’ll probably end up doing it myself.
So thats a pretty open ended question. What are your goals for the car? Being that your in Cali anything thats to much of a departure from stock is going to require tuning and make you fail emissions. If your just looking to increase lifter reliability I would go to a Johnson short travel and hardened pushrods. unless your doing a cam the stock springs and rockers are fine. You could maybe bet away with some mild porting and mill the heads a bit to bump the compression without needing a tune.

For reliability I suggest Johnson link bar lifters, GM blue valve springs, stock cam, and stock rockers. You can send out the heads to a place like Total Engine Airflow for a basic cleanup and valve job. Put the new springs in the box and they'll install those too. When it's back together, measure for each pushrod and have Manton down the road make you a custom set. You'll loose a little oil pressure with the Johnsons, even more if you go axle-oiliing (in which case I'd bump up to a 10296 oil pump). Use ARP head bolts (or studs) so you don't have to throw them away after being torqued.

First of all thank you so much for replying My goals are simply to never have to take apart again. Lol. Simple upgrades would be cool, but I’ve always heard that the heads on this LS two are not optimum. I really wanna be able to beat on the car a little bit. And not have to do more engine work for a long time. So. I’ve never done this work to an LS. Is OEM gear the Way to go
